No Pressure Then


'So let me get this straight, you've all been… waiting for me…?' a wave of heads nodding told me I was correct, 'And how long exactly have you been waiting f-for me?' Eli crossed his legs and lifted his chin whilst he spoke,

'It varies for all of us; Dongho is the youngest at the age of one hundred and thirty seven and Soohyun-ah being seven hundred and twenty nine.' My jaw dropped open at his words, I couldn't help it, looking back at Soohyun I couldn't believe what Eli had just told me. There was no way Soohyun was that old! Let alone Dongho being over one hundred years old, he still had chubby cheeks for crying out loud! 'Close your mouth dear, we wouldn't want any flies to be caught in there now would we?' Eli smirked before being glared at by myself.

'What he means is, we've been waiting a very long time for you Raven.' Kevin spoke softly to me whilst rubbing his thumb over my hand gently, 'People like you are born very rarely and on the slim chance your kind do actually get changed into vampires, well you are one of the most precious things in all vampires lives.'

'Sometimes that isn't a good thing.' AJ said in a steely voice, everyone glanced at him and I waited for him to continue. 'Let's just say not all vampires are as kind as we are Raven… You're a Priestess by blood and will be a very powerful vampire with time, do you know what people will do to get a hold of such power?' he leaned forward and kept his catlike eyes on my own wide orbs, 'Almost anything.' Something in his voice sent cold and relentless shivers throughout my body, Kevin's warm hand snaked around mine and squeezed it gently in reassurance but somehow only a little of the warmth was getting through to me, I felt cold from AJ's warning and alone… very alone…

'You aren't.' Kiseop spoke up in his usual kind and understanding tone, 'That's why we're all here, your very own seven protectors, if you will.' He chuckled at how silly that sounded, 'We were… made for this reason Raven, and one of us is going to be appointed to be by your side twenty-four seven.'

'You also shoulder a heavy burden,' Hoon spoke gently looking at me with his wise eyes, 'One day, maybe not too far away, you're going to become our leader but for now… One of us is to be chosen as  your main guardian.' A low grunt came from Soohyun's chest in what I could only assume was annoyance or disgust.

'We all know who that's going to be, don't we, Raven?' The eldest asked, I looked over at him and saw his lips were pulled back into a snarl over his pearly teeth, he barely kept eye contact with me for five seconds before he shot his harsh sneer at Kevin who seemed to shrink in size from the glare.

'I didn't know I had a say in it Soohyun.' I shot back sharply, my tone seemed to faze the brunette momentarily as he blinked his dark eyes at me, 'Actually, can I speak to you outside for a moment please?' I asked curtly rising stiffly from my chair, his eyes narrowed into slits before he pushed his back into his own chair and spread his arms.

'Whatever you have to say to me out there, can be said in here, can it not, Priestess?' I felt the blood rise in my cheeks before crawling down to my neck, I could have quite happily wrapped my hands around that stupid neck of his, squeezed until the colour left his entire face and still not stopped until I had throttled him so damned hard his neck would snap and loll in my murderous hands. 'It's not like everyone in the room doesn't know what you're going to ask me about anyways.' He continued.

'W-What?' I asked confused, when I looked around everyone had either suddenly become very interested in the fabric of a piece of their clothing or were look up at the ceiling like God himself was about to descend. 'I just want to know why you keep glaring at Kevin-ah like that, Soohyun. What's he done to upset you so badly?' I fumed, taking a step closer to the man, he sat forward in his chair and looked up at me before rising and looking down at me.

'You slept with him didn't you?' he hissed between his clenched teeth, my eyes widened enormously and my lips parted slightly in sheer shock, Eli shot up and placed a hand on the older male's shoulder in a silent warning, but I barely noticed… How did Soohyun know that?! I hadn't told anyone! Unless… had Kevin told them? But when, he'd been by my side nonstop so he wouldn't have had the chance. So then how? 'Answer me damn it!' Soohyun all but screamed down at me. AJ and Hoon rose from the floor and stood on either side of Soohyun who was now shaking, his dark eyes shot to Kevin once more, 'You know Kevin… You know I lo-…' A great rumble exploded from Soohyun's chest as he lunged for the younger male, not knowing what else to do I quickly propelled my own body between them and ended up being knocked to the floor for the second time in a few days, my head smacked against the solid wooden floor and I saw bright stars clouding my eyes.

'Raven!' six voices cried out, Soohyun's being the only one not to, the eldest was leaning over me and… crying… I tried to sit up and gasped feeling my ribs and head ache, I swear I could of heard a snap as well when I had made contact with the floor, but I didn't care, pushing through the pain I sat up enough to be able to lift Soohyun's chin.

'Soohyun… I don't know w-what I've done to upset you but,' I took in a large breath which sent aching pains throughout my body and alarm bells ringing in my head, signalling I was close to my limit, 'I don't want you to be hurt because of me… Don't take it out on Kevin, oppa… Soohyun try to understand…' the last thing I saw was the fresh tears brimming and spilling from his eyes as they fell carelessly against my top.

'Raven I'm sorry!' Soohyun cried out, the sound slightly muffled as I slipped in and out of unconsciousness, I blinked desperately trying to keep my surroundings in check but to no avail, six other figures loomed over me and although in this situation I know I should have felt scared being with so many of them, not to mention the fact I barely knew any of them or that I'd just found out I would one day have to become leader of our species, no, all I could think was that I finally felt like I had a home…
